The second edition of Ulimbwende wa Kiswahili, organized by The Standard Media Group Plc and Daraja Bora on Saturday attracted over 800 learners from different schools in Nairobi.

The event, which translates to the beauty of Kiswahili, aims to celebrate honour developments and strides made in the language.

The learners interacted with various stations under the stable as radio Maisha, Spice Fm,Berur and ktn studios where they interacted with presenters.

At the same time, some experts ruled out talks that CBC could phase out the language.

Kennedy Anduvate, a retired teacher and the organiser of the event also encouraged parents and guardians to support their children in nurturing Kiswahili.

“There has been a notion that CBC is phasing out Kiswahili, and that’s not true; it gives a chance for it to grow,” noted Victor Mulama, a radio presenter at Radio Maisha.

The learners present also took the opportunity to showcase their talents in poetry and dance in an event that aims to continue sensitizing and educating the public on Kiswahili.
