The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) will close the New Mbogolo Bridge along the Mombasa-Mtwapa-Kilifi road from Tuesday, March 18, at midnight until Tuesday, April 1, at midnight to allow for completion works.

Traffic will be diverted to the old Mbogolo Bridge during the closure.

Motorists have been urged to exercise caution around the construction site, follow traffic management plans and cooperate with police and marshals on duty.

In a public notice on Wednesday, March 12, KeNHA said the closure is necessary to finalise the bridge’s construction.

“The closure will facilitate the final stages of the project, ensuring safety and durability,” said the agency.

The bridge, part of the ongoing infrastructure upgrades along the coastal corridor, is expected to ease congestion and improve connectivity between Mombasa and Kilifi.

KeNHA advised drivers to plan ahead and expect delays due to the diversion.

The police and traffic marshals will be deployed to manage the flow of vehicles along the alternative route.
