At least 25 family members have been admitted to Webuye County Hospital and Bokoli health facility after consuming contaminated milk in Bunjosi village, Webuye constituency, Bungoma County.
Some victims said they developed stomach problems, headache, vomiting, and pain in the joints after consuming milk from a cow that had been treated for unknown disease.
Willy Wanjala said he took the fermented milk on Friday and started vomiting and diarrhoea on Saturday morning before he was admitted to hospital.
"We are five houses, and as a family, we normally share the milk. However, on Friday, two days after the cow received treatment, we used the milk as usual after the veterinarian's advice," said Wanjala.
Moses Wafula said his brother’s wife milked the cow that had been treated for an unknown illness.

"We had a cow that fell ill a week ago. My brother called for a veterinary officer to treat it, and after treating it, he said we can consume its milk after two days. We waited for two days, and my sister-in-law decided to milk the cow, and we used the milk to prepare tea before we fell ill," said Wafula.
He revealed that the situation worsened after the family members who consumed the milk started complaining of chest pain, pain in the joints, stomach problems, and general weakness, and were unable to walk.
A nurse at Webuye County Hospital said that all the victims are out of danger.
