President Ruto hit with flying shoes in Migori

President William Ruto was on Sunday struck with a flying shoe while addressing a crowd in Kuria, Migori County.

In a viral video, the incident shows that the President narrowly avoided a shoe aimed at his face.

While delivering his speech to a large audience, a black shoe was seen flying from the crowd, directly targeting him.

President Ruto swiftly blocked the shoe with his left hand, which then flew over his head and landed behind him.

At the time of the incident, President Ruto was discussing the need to lower the cost of living and was forced to cut his speech short.

“Kwanza tupunguze garama ya…”

He had just begun his three-day tour of Migori County.

Shoe-throwing incidents are not new in Migori.

In 2014, former President Uhuru Kenyatta was also hit by shoes at a rally held at Migori Primary School.

This incident adds to a troubling trend, reminiscent of the 2008 occurrence when Iraqi journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi threw his shoes at former US President George Bush, which made headlines worldwide.
